Miller Dialarc 250 AC/DC Welder

This is my Miller Dialarc 250 AC/DC welder. I bought this neglected welder from some older folks for $60. This page documents some of what I did to fix it.

The Resoration

The restoration was split up primarily between 2 areas, electrical and cosmetic.

The electrical side of things involved me replacing the proprietary miller leads with 3/8" dinse adapters. I chose these adapters because they are rated to handle 250 amps of AC or DC.

I also replaced the 240V plug as it was falling apart. The leads on the welder also needed to be replaced. I had to visit a few welding supply stores in order to get what I needed.

For the cosmetic parts of the restoration, I used an angle grinder to dislodge all of the dirt on the welder dolly. I then primed and painted the dolly so it wouldn't rust up again.

I also took the welder apart to blow all of the dust out. The tag on the welder dated it to 1977, so a fair amount of dust had built up inside.
